Update # 8 on Jewel

Last night we had a great visit with our local Church Pastor and his wife. They had just returned to town and this was the first time they had seen us since Jewel became ill. They encouraged with the words of 1 Peter 1

“ 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”

What a great hope!

They also shared with us a profound lesson about scuba diving from their recent vacation. While Pastor Mike was diving, he noticed while the waves very rough on top once into the depth of the ocean he observed the complete calmness of the environment.

Knowing the truth of the verses in 1 Peter, we are reminded that no matter how turbulent life may seem we can have a deep peace as we rest in God’s grace. This is certainly been part of our experience.

We are a grateful that the pain management changes recommended for Jewel seem to be providing a greater degree of comfort. We are now waiting for her Tuesday pre-operation consultation at the hospital in preparation for her scheduled surgery on Friday.

We ask you to continue to pray for healing of the tumor, wisdom for the doctors and daily strength for our family.

Yours on the Journey,

Geoff

  1. Dear Uncle Jeoff,

I'm sending my love and prayers your way and hope that the surgery goes well on Friday! I understand a small amount of Aunt Jewels pain! It is not easy and very exhausting, and now that she is going thru it, makes me very sad! She is very strong and I feel that she will fight this, it will not beat her down! Please give her my love and tell her that if need be I would be there in a heartbeat! Love Always!

    Your neice,

    Raven
