Update # 10 on Jewel

We have now been told that Jewel is on the surgery slate for tomorrow (Tuesday) at approx 2 p.m. We have been so very encouraged by the care she has received in the hospital today. Three specialists as well as several other doctors have seen her. We are also grateful that they seem to managing her pain and nausea.

We sensed the hand of the Lord in so many ways today. We know many people continue to pray. Thank you.

You need to know that Jewel has great peace in heart and mind as she faces this surgery. Justin and Natasha are also staying strong. Personally I have felt the Lord’s grace and mercy as He as given strength for the journey.

As Jewel comes to mind we would ask you to pray that she rests well tonight in preparation for the surgery. Also please pray for skill and wisdom for the medical team that will conduct the surgery. We continue to pray for healing for Jewel.

Today I have thought about this quote from Frank VanderZwan

“After the initial greeting in beginning the second letter to the Corinthian church, Paul bursts forth in a joyful praise with a Jewish benediction usually offered in Jewish prayer and worship: “Blessed be the God”. Paul then makes the ancient blessing a Christian one when he adds “the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”. To this he adds the description of God as the loving Father from whom flows compassion and comfort. God has tender love for those who are hurting and he comforts them in their time of need. Paul writes “the God of all comfort.” Wherever hardships may be, God proves to be near.

One of the most important truths is that the God of Comfort doesn’t come and go as our needs change. He is there all the time in and through all circumstances. God is the Comforter who is always with us.”

Thanks for walking this path with us.

Yours on the Journey,

Geoff

  1. Dear Geoff & family,
Our prayers are with each one of you (and Justin's g-friend) during this difficult time. Marg Smutylo just let me know of Jewel's condition & we prayed together over the phone just as Jewel would ahve been entering surgery. I know you won't see this until much later but we pray that you will be upheld by the presence of God around you and for utmost care of the surgical and recovery team at the hospital.

If appropriate to post on your blog, let us know whether things like meals dropped off versus cash for parking fees/transit, meals & coffees would be most helpful ways of putting feet under our prayers.

    In Christ,
    Pauline & Ron :)
